The Australian Delegation has reached Gaza, Joel Thorpe the Head of DFAT Palestine (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) and Tafic Raad, the Australian Representative for the Palestinian Authority went today to Gaza to inspect the damage inflicted on MA'AN projects throughout the Israeli assault. They visited Khuza'a, where the majority of AMENCA2 projects were based and an area which was the most damaged in the recent hostilities, to inspect the devastation and destruction of the area. Beginning with a discussion at the MA'AN Gaza office with Ehab, the Gaza project monitoring and development officer, the group then moved into the field accompanied by Hana (monitoring and evaluation office), Hani and Yousef (both project co-ordinators). The delegation was able to meet with beneficiaries, families and see for themselves the loss that the Israeli assault caused. They were both saddened and shocked by the reality of this situation and showed solidarity with those affected.
