Communication, Advocacy, and Reporting Officer - Gaza

Position title: Communication, Advocacy, and Reporting Officer

 
Location: MA'AN/ Gaza Branch
 
Main Responsibilities:
 
The purpose of the  Communication, Advocacy, and Reporting Officer is to work with the Gaza Branch Manager and the various programs & departments of the Center to ensure the proper implementation of the center’s Advocacy strategy & to produce quality reports for the donors. S/he will work under the direct supervision of MA'AN Development Center’s Branch Manager and work with the Program Manager, PM&E Manager & Programs’ Officers of Gaza Branch. 
 
Specific Responsibilities:
 
In carrying out the purposes of this position in Gaza branch, the Communication, Advocacy, and Reporting Officer’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
 
1.      Ensure effective communications, visibility and awareness of MA’AN’s actions to programs and activities, donors, clusters, and partner organizations.
2.      Prepare and manage the media and advocacy strategy plan.   
3.      Prepare and supervise the production of Gaza branch’s English and Arabic publications including press releases, media briefs, factsheets, newsletter, annual reports, pamphlets, brochures, talking points, donor visibility materials etc. and communicate with the media (print, electronic and new/alternative), maintain and broaden engagement with media at the national and international level.
4.      Write proposals and concept papers, mainly for advocacy projects.
5.      Manage advocacy projects within budget and on schedule.   
6.      Responsible for the timely collection of center activities that will be uploaded to the website.
7.      Organize and lead advocacy campaign.
8.      Act as a public information focal point in front of media donors and partners.
9.      Contribute to updating or developing—with appointed staff members-- MA’AN’s procedures such as the emergency preparedness plan, contingency plan, HR procedures, communication tools, media strategy. 
10. With input from the MA’AN’s Monitoring and Projects Development Officer and Program Officers, help produce high quality program/projects progress reports as per donors requirements.
11. Provide technical support, training, and clarification on reporting.
12. Undertake field visits to gather the information and results related to the programs.
13. Support program staff in organizing and managing seminars, workshops, and press conferences
14. Perform other related duties as required.
 
Reporting to:
Gaza Branch Director.
 
 
 
Education and Experience:
 
·         BA with five years of experience or MA with three years in social sciences, English, development, media, communication, advocacy or other relevant fields.
·         Dealing with international and national media outlets.
·         In designing and leading advocacy campaigns.
·         Track record and commitment to working in a results-oriented environment.
·         Familiarity with the Palestinian context and the role of NGOs within this context.
 
Skills:
 
·         Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
·         Creativity and innovation in developing new ideas
·         Excellent written and spoken Arabic and English.
·         Proficiency in WinWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and MS Project.
·         Proficient skills in cooperation and team-building.
·         Strong social media skill set preferred. 
·         Knowledge of web design is plus, as is knowledge of 3-D software and design.

Work Conditions
 
·         The work schedule is 40 hours per week.
·         Probation period is 3 months and can be extended to another 3 months.
·         Sick leave:  14 days/year
·         Religious and national leave: 17 days/year
·         Annual leave 21 days/year
·         Reimbursement for work related transportation expenses is according to MA’AN’s by- laws.
·         Time flexibility is recognized by both parties with consideration that this position might needs to do part of the work after 4:00pm.
